| If you are considering employment at CSSS, there are a few things you should
know. CSSS operators are responsible for monitoring more than 40,000 locations
throughout the United States.
Although computers do most of the routine work, our operators need to be well versed in customer service skills, and be able to handle not only routine dispatches to police and fire departments, but also the occasional stressful call where a customer's life may be in danger, or observe a crime in progress while performing video surveillance. The phone traffic, although usually moderate, can at times become heavy. Our operators must be able to work effectively under pressure, and have good communication skills. Applicants will be required to be screened for drug use, and to be licensed through the Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Security & Investigations, which requires a criminal background check. CSSS pays for this initial licensing. CSSS, like all other central stations, is not a nine to five, Monday through Friday job. We work the same hours as burglars - 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, which requires shift work, including weekends. |
